Terms and Conditions

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIRMENTS
Candidates must be 21 years old by the date of their graduation. Although it is not a requirement, it is valuable to have a High School Diploma or GED. An interview is conducted to evaluate background, career goals and motivation. The school's programs, philosophy and procedures are explained in detail.

SPECIAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
State law requires all gaming employees to hold a gaming work permit. The following lists typical causes for denial of a gaming work permit. If any of these conditions apply the candidate is encouraged to contact the State Gaming Board for review of their situation prior to applying for school admission. IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON OBTAINING A GAMING WORK PERMIT
1. If a person has committed, conspired or attempted to cheat at gambling or committed any violation of any law pertaining to gaming in any jurisdiction.
2. If a person has committed, conspired or attempted to embezzle from a licensed gaming establishment. 3. If a person has committed, conspired or attempted to commit any violent crime.
4. If a person has committed, conspired or attempted to commit any crime or theft which is a felony or gross misdemeanor including robbery, burglary, embezzlement, larceny, etc.
5. If a person has committed, conspired or attempted to commit any crime of theft including, petit larceny, petit embezzlement, shoplifting, etc.
6. If a person has committed, conspired or attempted to distribute or sell illegal narcotics.
7. If a person has committed, conspired or attempted to use illegal narcotics.
8. If a person has failed to disclose, misstated or otherwise attempted to mislead the Board with respect to any material fact contained in an application for a gaming work permit.
9. If a person is currently on parole or probation.
10. If a person has an extensive criminal record.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Students are expected to attend every class session and 80% attendance is required for graduation.

DRESS CODE
Clean casual clothes required. Hair, skin and nails are to be kept clean and well groomed.

CREDIT FOR PREVIOUS TRAINING
You may receive credit for previous training by proof of such training or work experience. Credit is awarded at the discretion of the school director. Training time and tuition will be proportionally reduced.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS
Reno Tahoe Job Training Academy assists qualified students in finding financial assistance from Veteran's benefits and various local organizations.

STUDENT SERVICES
Financial assistance is available to those who qualify Job search, audition procedures, work ethics, punctuality, personal appearance and job performance.

JOB PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE/ WE DO NOT GUARENTEE JOB PLACEMENT However, job placement assistance is available to those who qualify.

A WORD ABOUT DRUGS / RE-ADMISSION PROCESS
Due to the prohibition of drug use by the State Gaming Commission, students will be suspended for drug use until a physician certifies the problem is corrected. Students may reapply after 15 weeks.



FAMILY EDUCATIONAL RIGHTS AND PRIVACY ACT

No information regarding a student will be released without the student's written consent. A student may access their file during office hours. Official records are maintained only in the Director's office.

STUDENT COMPLAINT AND GRIEVANCE PROCEDURE
Complaints and problems are to be discussed only with the school Director. Should the student still not be satisfied, the school has a posting of the appropriate state agency governing the operation of the school and a written complaint should be directed to this agency.

STUDENT CONDUCT AND PROBATION POLICY
It is expected that a student display the highest degree of propriety and ethics while in school. Reno Tahoe Job Training Academy reserves the right to dismiss any student whose conduct, attitude, improper dress, poor attendance or scholastic performance, etc. reflects unfavorably upon the school. Students on probation must provide proof the problem has been corrected before probation may then be lifted.

TARDINES AND MAKEUP WORK
Tardiness, if not excessive, is not a cause for dismissal. Makeup work is allowed up to 150% of regularly scheduled class time to complete a program.

CLASSROOM USE BY SCHOOL GRADUATES
A student who has received a Certificate of Completion in a program can NOT continue attending classes as usual for that program. They may come in for extra practice between the hours of 3:00pm. and 4:00pm. Wednesdays through Saturdays at no charge.

A=Excellent.................. 90-100% ..........................4.0
B=Good....................... 80-89% ............................3.0
C=Average.................. 70-79% ............................2.0
D=Below average......... 60-69%.............................1.0
F=Failing...................... Under 60% .
I=Incomplete used only when circumstances prevent the student from completing that week's class.


SATISFACTORY PROGRESS / GRADUATION

Requires maintaining a minimum GPA (grade point average) of 1.0 at 25% of completion, a 1.5 GPA at 50% completion and a 2.0 GPA upon graduation. A student must attend 80% of scheduled classes.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE
LOA (leaves of absence) may be granted for up to 30 days at the discretion of the Director. HOWEVER, in no case will a student be allowed more than 150% of scheduled class time. LOA must be in writing, request forms are available from the school Director. A LOA is not counted as part of the elapsed time for the purpose of calculating tuition charged.

CLASSROOM CLOCK HOUR / SEMESTER CREDIT HOUR CONVERSION TABLE
Instructional hours are 50 minutes in length and are converted to semester credit hours according to the following: One semester Credit Hour = 15 hours of lecture or 30 hours of laboratory.
